College and Career Prep

College and Career Prep

Accuplacer Diagnostic tests, college prep classes and access to My Foundations Lab online college prep program are offered through Owatonna ABE. All of these services are free to anyone enrolled in classes.

Free access to the Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) is also available. The MCIS allows students to explore careers, record and track college applications, plan their school coursework, find information about jobs in the area, and create a resume.

Computer skills training is also available for free - Do you need a way to demonstrate basic computer and digital literacy skills to employers? Completing the Northstar Digital Literacy Assessments can identify your areas of proficiency and areas of skills needing practice. Free instruction is available, along with online learning to build up your skills. Adults completing this course will earn the Northstar Digital Literacy Certificate. Time in our computer lab is flexible to meet your work and family schedules.

Introduction and bridge programming to college and career opportunities is offered to adults throughout the year. Current programs emphasize healthcare, paraprofessional, construction trades, manufacturing, and information technology career pathways. You can continue to learn English, prepare for the GED, or brush up your skills to start a college program - all while learning about your most employable skills and passions! We have a career navigator on staff who meets with students individually to craft career plans and support you in finding the best path forward. Call for upcoming offerings.
